Hermitage of San Sebastian, satellite photo showing “the apartment blocks on the riverside, which threatened to engulf it several decades ago”.   The tiny hermitage-chapel is the square tiled-roof on the right.

Las Recogidas – satellite photo showing the convent which once housed Granada's women's prison. The prison was demolished in 1958 when the street was widened and renamed Calle Recogidas (previously Calle Verónica).  

The Church of San Antón stands on the wedge-shaped corner in the center, with the convent and cloister behind it.  The prison stood to the left of the church, on the site of Hostal Verona.

The famous 16th century pictorial map by Ambrosio de Vico gives us a vivid impression of what Granada looked like a century after the Reconquest in 1492.

Hermitage of San Sebastian, photo satellite qui montre comment les HLMs ont failli engouffrer la petite chapelle au bord du Genil, dans les années 1980.   Des  citoyens  sensibles ont pu arrêter le désastre au dernier moment.

Hotel Reuma atu pied de l'Alhambra, vu depuis le Paseo de los Tristes.  C'est le petit immeuble carré avec le toit gris, style "pavillon français".

Las Recogidas – photo satellite avec le couvent qui autrefois servait de prison de femmes.  La partie "prison" fut démolie en 1958 lorsque la rue Verónica fut elargie et renommée Calle Recogidas - "Rue des Recolletes". 

L'église de San Antón occupe le coin des rues au centre de cette prise de vue, avec le couvent et son cloître derrière.  La prison se trouvait à gauche du couvent, dans l'emplacement de l'actuel Hostal Verona.

Le célèbre plan du 16ème siècle d'Ambrosio de Vico nous donne une idée detaillée de comment était la ville de Grenade un siècle après la Recoquête.

55 et 56  - sur la droite, on voit le pincipal canal d'eau de la ville, Acequia Gorda, ainsi que la disparue "porte des moulins", Puerta de los Molinos, qui se trouvait sur la toujours existante Calle de los Molinos

53 Castillo de Bitaubín   En-dessu, sur la colline de l'Alhambra, on voit une esquisse du monastère démoli de Saint Jean de la Crois, nommé ici “Combento”  de los Mártires”.

A – Iglesia Mayor - la cathédrale était encore en pleine construction.  On voit les socles des colonnes déjà mises en place. 

B - Capilla Real, la Chapelle Royale

C – Sagrario - l'église de la paroisse se trouve ici encore dans une partie de l'ancienne mosquée, avec sus multiples toitures, devant la Chapelle Royale.  

AP – Iglesia Mayor de San Salvador  - appelée maintenant Colegiata de San Salvador, avec sa Cour des Citronniers, vestige éloquent de l'époque almohade.
